Research & Development Co-Op/Intern
This position resides in Markham, ON and is for a 3-month work term. Applicants are expected to be enrolled in full-time studies at a post-secondary institution and returning to full-time studies upon completion of the work term.

Microbonds Inc. has developed an array of innovative health-tech products that you will assisting with commercialization, including: Copper-Infused Anti-Microbial Textiles, Mineral Solutions Acne Relief Gel & Silver-Infused Fabric Deodorizer.

What does your week look like?
In a start-up environment, you will be working directly with senior management on various initiatives, such as: research & development, product launches, manufacturing & logistics, regulatory compliance and customer support. This will involve creative problem solving, and working with other team members on technical, cost and time trade-offs.

You will:
• Support various product development and manufacturing of the company’s products & services.
• Develop test methods, standards and protocols supporting implementation of new materials & product applications.
• Work on the development & launch of several products & services simultaneously.
• Carry out research on materials, perform quality control and regulatory compliance testing
• Anticipate and identify scale-up and commercialization issues for new products, formulations and applications.
• Work in a team environment and interface with external parties as required.
• Make critical observations, solve problems, and proactively provide guidance to management in pursuing projects.
• Recognize patentable technology and develop patent strategies, as required.
• Publish technical papers and attend conferences, as required.

Qualifications & Skills:
• A second, third-year, or Masters student in Engineering, Life Sciences, Medical, Biology, Pharmacy or other relevant degree program. A strong background in Chemistry would be an asset.
• Driven, self-motivated & pro-active individual with strong written & verbal communication skills
• Strong organizational and project management skills with attention to detail
• Ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment
• A pro-active, resourceful and creative approach to problem solving

Preferred:
• Experience with chemical formulation and/or materials science in an R&D environment is an asset
• Experience with consumer products development and testing is an asset
• Experience with microbiological testing is an asset

Business Operations & Marketing Co-Op / Intern

This will involve creative problem solving, resourcefulness and working with other team members to understand what is possible from a technical & cost point of view.

What you’ll learn:
• You will be exposed to diverse areas of a business at a high level of responsibility.
• You will explore different marketing strategies & tactics and how to apply them.
• You will implement various customer acquisition & value proposition strategies.
• You will be exposed to finance initiatives and communicate with business partners, suppliers and customers.
• You will work with various stakeholders to implement your initiatives and see the results!

Qualifications & Skills:
• A second, third-year, or Masters student of a Business, Commerce, Economics, Communications or other relevant major. An additional science or engineering background would also be an asset.
• Driven, self-motivated & pro-active individual with strong communication skills
• Excellent problem-solving skills
• Strong organizational and project management skills with attention to detail
• Ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment

Preferred:
• Some Marketing, Market Research, Sales or Customer related experience
• Experience in Branding, Product-Market fit, Customer Surveys and Value Proposition Canvas would be an asset
• Social Media, Advertising, Marketing Campaign (online or offline) experience would be an asset
• Advanced PC/Web skills - such as Web page, HTML & graphic design would be a great asset
